Coach: Tom Gately
Coach Gately incorporated Northeast Thunderstruck Water Polo in February of 2006 as the first American Water Polo organization in Massachusetts. Six months later the team merged with the North Shore YMCA in order to share the game of water polo with the successful USS and YMCA swimmers located in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. |

Tom began his water polo career in the early 90's at St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers Massachusetts, where he was the team captain of both the water polo and championship swimming teams. After playing for the Young Athletes of America and the #1 ranked Villanova University Men's Water Polo Team, he transferred to The George Washington University where he was a member of the Division One varsity water polo and swimming programs. After graduation Coach Gately received his law degree from Whittier Law School in Southern California, and then became involved with the Northeast Regional Men's Water Polo Premiere League Teams practicing out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the leadership of Coach Felix Mercado.
Coach Gately currently serves as the assistant water polo and swimming coach at St. John's Preparatory School. During the 2006 season the St. John's Prep Swimming and Diving Team captured the Catholic Conference Championship, the MIAA North Sectional Championship, and the Massachusetts Division 1 Swimming and Diving Championship. Tom is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and acts as a teaching consultant for The Princeton Review and Endicott College. |

Assistant Coach: Brad Fortin
Coach Fortin first played water polo at Phillips Exeter Academy, and later served as a member of Bucknell University's Varsity Water Polo Team which qualified and competed in the tournament currently known as the NCAA Water Polo Final Four Championships. Brad is also an assistant water polo and swimming coach at St. John's Prep, and currently practices law as a member of the Massachusetts Bar. |

Assistant Coach: Peter Dodge
Coach Dodge began his playing career as the captain of the Nova Scotia Junior Men's Provincial Team. Peter went on to play in college as a four year member of Dalhousie University's Men's Water Polo Team. Coach Dodge also served as a head coach for several Canadian club teams as well as the Nova Scotia Women's Provincial Team.
After a successful 2006 season, Peter was instrumental in laying the foundation for the expansion of the Thunderstruck Water Polo program. As a result the team now includes players from the surrounding areas outside of Beverly Massachusetts. |

Assistant Coach: AJ Vellante
Coach Vellante was recruited in order to assist in the progression of our "13 and under" program. After a successful NCAA lacrosse career, AJ became involved with coaching several youth sports on the North Shore. Coach Vellante brings fun and excitement to the pool deck regularly for our younger athletes. |
